Facial Hair Threading -
What Is It?
Facial hair threading is a
method of hair removal that’s rapidly becoming popular in
the Western world. Originating in the Far East, threading of
facial hair is a technique that’s been passed down for
generations. In only the relatively recent past have people
in the US and other Western countries started to use it.
This article will talk about what facial threading is, what
advantages it has over other hair removal methods and why it
can work so quickly.
Unlike other methods of hair removal such as tweezing or
waxing, facial hair threading removes hair right down to the
root. The practitioner uses a thin piece of string to pull
out each of the hairs which then don’t grow back for an
extended period of time. Even though this might sound like a
slow process, if it’s performed by a trained professional it
can actually be much quicker than alternatives such as
waxing or tweezing. More than one hair will be removed at a
time to make the process quicker. The problem is finding
someone who’s trained to perform hair threading although
it’s becoming more common in the US for beauty salons to
offer it as a service.
Aside from the fact that it removes a hair down to the root
what are some of the other advantages of hair threading? An
important benefit is that it’s a technique which is
completely free of any chemicals or other potentially
harmful products. It’s also much less abrasive on the skin
than other methods of removing facial hair. For example,
waxing can cause the top layer of skin to be damaged. This
isn’t the case with hair threading. You also can’t overlook
the fact that it’s a lot quicker than using tweezers.
The reason that facial hair threading works so quickly is
because it allows a trained professional to remove areas of
hair rather than just a single strand. Someone who isn’t
trained would find it difficult to achieve the same accuracy
and speed with hair threading as they would with tweezers.
On the other hand, there is no comparison when a
professional uses the technique.
Hair threading can be used on any hair from moustaches to
bikini lines. It’s commonly used for facial hair though
because of the fact that it won’t irritate the skin as much
as other techniques. You need to be aware, however, that
some people find hair threading to be a painful experience.
Having multiple hairs pulled out of the skin right down to
the root level isn’t comfortable. Whether or not it’s more
painful than waxing depends on the skill of the practitioner
and your personal preference.
Some of the downsides to using facial hair threading are
that it can cause a certain level of skin irritation even
though it’s generally kinder to the skin than other
techniques. In some cases it can also cause in-growing
hairs. These problems can largely be avoided by going to a
highly trained practitioner although in some situations they
may be unavoidable.
I wish you all the best on your
facial hair threading adventure!
Best wishes,
Thomas T :)
